2009 Metropolitan Orestes Nat. Bowling Tournament
host: ch.30 Phoenixville

Bowling Tournament UpDate – 05/21/2009

It's Here. Drive Safely. See you there!

Christ is Risen! Christos Voskrese!

Because of the lower than expected turnout thus far, the hotel has graciously extended the deadline for booking rooms at the upcoming Bowling Tournament another week!

So, if you have not yet booked your room, please do so before next Tuesday, May 5th 2009!

Rooms are being held under "61st ACRY Bowling Tournament". Should one of the Reservationists not be able to locate the block, please tell them to look under “Holy Ghost ACRY”.

It seems that some people were being told that if there were more than 2 people staying in a room, the rate would go up. This issue has since been resolved with the hotel. The correct room rate is $109 a night + 8% tax, regardless of occupancy. If you encountered this problem, please rest assured that this has been corrected.

With the exception of the rooms we have on hold, the hotel is currently fully booked. After the block of rooms has been released next Tuesday, we cannot guarantee price or availability.

Again, call (888) 201-1718 or contact the hotel directly at (610) 337-2000 to make your reservation(s)!

Booklet Ads
Also, please get your booklet ads in the mail by next Tuesday (5/5/09) or Wednesday (5/6/09) to ensure that they arrive on or before Saturday, May 9th, as any that arrive after that date will be considered too late for inclusion in the booklet and will be returned.

Thanks again and we're looking forward to seeing you next month!

Sincerely,
The Members of Chapter #30 - Phoenixville

2009 Metropolitan Orestes Nat. Bowling Tournament approching soon
It is that time again, quickly approaching, it is Spring and the days are getting longer. The National ACRY Bowling Tournament is coming up and excitement is building. As our nation is in economic woes and people are cutting back their spending, one thing is becoming apparent. Through all the hard times of our country and our diocese, bowling – yes, bowling has been a uniter of people. Having gone through a mild recession of its own in the past few years, people of the ACRY have been working to adapt the BT's to todays world. There have survey's done and dues deadlines repeeled recently to help attendance and change perception throughout the diocese.

metorestesIt is the 61st Metropolitan Orestes BT. perhaps not a major milestone, but one nonetheless. National events like the M.O.B.T. are not done for the sake of reaching a certain anniversary, but to give unity/connection, to create new memories, to remind us that we are a state of churches that need to stay connected with others, and
not to be in isolation all year long. If Met. Orestes & Bishop John were with us they would be their own team competing with us, and sharing and enjoying time with
all of us.

This years BT is quite affordable even in these times. It has been six years since the Phoenixville chapter has been host. Those who have been to events hosted by chapter 30 know it is has been an enjoyable social good time. The church is in a great and historical location for all to come, learn, enjoy and get away from the tough times in our country.

We hope to see all of you and hope to see others that have been away for awhile, because being together with others from our diocese is resonable (financially) and the time spent with others is the best type of stimulas for us and our diocese.

The ACRY is the national youth organization of the American Carpatho-Russian Diocese of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. It is divided into two separate organizations. The Junior ACRY (for ages 8 to 18) and the Senior ACRY (for ages 18 and older).

In 1938, A diocesan youth organization, called "The Sons and Daughters of the Eastern Church", established. It was later named the "A.C.R.Y. - American Carpatho-Russian Youth." A supplement magazine of the organization began publication, with Very Rev. Joseph Mihaly, editor. Learn more.
